Thank you to expert cooking instructor, fully setup with two cameras, Debra taught us how to make Okonomiyaki, Japanese savory pancakes, and included many aspects of language culture in the presentation.
Students and a couple of partners enjoyed the tasty pancakes after the class.
Before enjoying our meal, we said “Itadaki masu”, which shows gratefulness for the meal and honors all those involved in its preparation, from farmers and fishermen to the cook. After the meal, we said “Gochiso sama deshita”, which shows respect and thanks to the person who prepared the meal. To accompany the meal with the Japanese opening and closing made it truly festive.
It was a wonderful experience, cooking together, sharing the meal and some stories from our travels.
Arigatou, Debra
