Thank you, Mary, for your hospitality in offering members a most memorable day in Annisquam! Everyone basked in the wonderful sun, lunching and admiring the beautiful waterfront view from your patio. A walk to the Annisquam Exchange consignment shop and art gallery (where Mary has art exhibited) and then to the beach, rounded out the perfect day. An accomplished painter, Mary also treated us to a tour of her lovely home and a viewing of some of her artwork.

Four members walked 14 miles along the Emerald Necklace, on a picture perfect day, from the Boston Common to the Arnold Arboretum. The walk went through the city and some amazing greenery and walking paths. It was fun and challenging.

The Emerald Necklace park system was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. It stretches from Back Bay all the way to Dorchester.

Thanks BJ for putting it together, and to Farida for the photos. Let’s try some more walks in the fall!

These Champions completed the full, planned walk!

The 10th Anniversary Party was a huge success, thanks to hours and hours of planning by Brigitte K, Iko B and Linda Z. In addition, Patty GG and Françoise contributed their cooking.

A gift card was presented to hosts Brigitte and Terje, a small token of appreciation for always opening their home to the club’s members and their guests. The events at their home have become a beloved tradition in the 10 years of club existence, and they are the most gracious and welcoming hosts ever.

Gorgeous Ikebana arrangements by Keiko, made with flowers from Brigitte’s garden, decorated the dining room.

Members and their guests filled the host’s house and yard with animated conversations and laughter.

Entertainment was provided by the “Stoli Band”, a great group of musicians with saxes, piano, percussion, bass. Thank you, Linda M for the idea and convincing your husband to perform.

A Russian Dance Troup also gave a fun performance. Their enthusiasm for the songs and music was evident on their faces and drew everyone to participate in the last dance. Thank you, Elena, for introducing us to Russian culture.

The Annual General Meeting was very well attended. Linda gave a complete overview of the past year and the 2012-14 Executive Committee’s goals and accomplishments. She also gave a summary of the club’s first ten years. Robin announced next year’s Cultural Exchange Program.
Finally everyone enjoyed lunch, a delicious array of member prepared dishes, and finished with the festive cake.
