Castle Island is located on Day Boulevard in South Boston on the shore of Boston Harbor. It has been the site of a fortification since 1634. Castle Island was connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land in 1928 and is thus no longer an island. It is currently a 22-acre recreation site and the location of Fort Independence.

Please join Doris for a scenic walk around Pleasure Bay, approximately 2 miles. Bring water, sunscreen and sun hat. Please pack a picnic lunch or order lunch at Sullivan's. Lobster rolls are $14.

We will meet in front of Sullivan's at 10:00 a.m.

Please rsvp by July 15.

Public Transportation:
Red Line to Broadway Station, then take City Point buses #9 (also stops at Copley Square) or #11 to Farragut Road stop. You can also take the #7 bus from South Station. Please ask bus driver to guide you to Sullivan's when you disembark.  You will be walking along William Day Boulevard with the ocean on your right side. The walk from there to the Fort is approximately 20 minutes.
