Ignoring the rain, we followed sculptor David Phillips to a few of his works around the city. We finished the tour with pizza at the artist’s studio in Medford.
It was a wonderful day, thank you David for showing us around, and Iko for organizing.

Team MAG leaders Sarah and Brian met us on Sunday at the Hatch Shell, to walk 6 miles and show our support for the fight against Breast Cancer, to find a cure, and specially, to show our support to Marie Alice, who is fighting  the disease. Thank you Marie Alice for seeing us off. We wish you the best and a quick recovery.

It was wet, and great fun, camaraderie and cheers along the whole way.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to Team MAG’s fundraising.

Robin and Sandra invited to a Neighborhood Coffee in their home town Wellesley.  After an enthusiastic description of their town and its history, they took us to Wellesley College, where we toured its Davis Museum. The docent took us to a few select pieces, encouraging a lively discussion.  We got a glimpse of an amazing extensive collection, definitely worth further exploration.

Fun fact: More than 350 years ago, when Wellesley was first founded, it was named ‘Contentment’.

Thank you Robin and Sandra for organizing the visit, and Linda for taking the photos.

The weather turned out to be perfect. Everyone had a lovely visit and lunch together looking out at the water from Mary’s terrace and then they rummaged through the local Antique Exchange for treasures. Final stop was the Cambridge beach where Lynn and Ann ventured to swim.

Thank you Mary for hosting again this year and thank you Lynne for documenting the day with your photos.

A group met at China Pearl in Quincy and continued to the Kam Man Asian Supermarket.

    At China Pearl:

    At Kam Man Market:

A few went to Wollaston Beach afterwards. This is the largest Boston Harbor beach, with ca. 2.3 miles of shoreline, and as part of Massachusetts Bay was considered one of the most polluted areas in the US in the 1980’s. Following a successful clean-up program was selected in 1990 by the EPA as an Estuary of National Significance.

Thank you, Doris, for arranging another wonderful lunch and outing for us!

Thank you Judith, for the photos and text!

Our club of 80 members held 100 events during the past year! That’s a lot of organizing, and it couldn’t happen without the efforts of many individuals. To thank those active members who planned, lead or hosted one or more of our many events, the Executive Committee held an appreciation dinner on June 18 at the home of President Sandra C.

    Thank you very much to:

We had a wonderful day in Marblehead. Barbara was a fabulous host and tour guide.

The group arrived at Barbara’s house which is located in the most magnificent setting on a small peninsula, just before you reach down town Marblehead.

Welcome was with coffee and the most delicious muffins.

Then we took a short boat trip around the harbor followed by a ‘caravan’ tour around Marblehead Neck. We strolled around Light House Point and some very agile members of the group scrambled up Castle Rock !

After a wonderful lunch at Barbara’s house, the day’s events continued with a visit to Abbot Hall, the Jeremiah Lee Mansion and a walk around Marblehead.

It was a really enjoyable day and everyone had a terrific time (not enough time).
Thank you Barbara and Pauline for organizing.

Careful with those delicious muffins !
